The Monastic Experience

Students will learn about the history and practice of monasticism through a simulation in Calacalí and at El Refugio. They will practice silence, solitude, and prayer, as well as learn to cook, clean, and garden. Using the wilderness survival skills they will learn during the week, students will spend one night camping. Lastly, they will have the opportunity to create art for the blessing of the community.

Los estudiantes aprenderán sobre la historia y la práctica del monacato mediante una simulación en Calacalí y El Refugio. Practicarán el silencio, la soledad y la oración, además de aprender a cocinar, limpiar y cuidar el jardín. Utilizando las técnicas de supervivencia que aprenderán durante la semana, pasarán una noche acampando. Finalmente, tendrán la oportunidad de crear arte para la bendición de la comunidad.
