Cayapas River Outreach

This service trip will minister to communities (primarily Afro-Ecuadorian and Chachi) located on the Cayapas River, using the Kumanii Christian Center as a base. Students will participate in modeling the use of and distributing water filters, simple construction projects that will benefit the Christian center and/or local communities, and connecting with communities through carnival type games and crafts. Students will learn about local culture and biodiversity.

Este viaje de servicio ministrará a comunidades (principalmente afroecuatorianas y chachi) ubicadas en el río Cayapas, utilizando el Centro Cristiano Kumanii como base. Los estudiantes participarán en demostraciones sobre el uso y la distribución de filtros de agua, proyectos de construcción sencillos que beneficiarán al centro cristiano y/o a las
comunidades locales, y conectarán con las comunidades mediante juegos y manualidades tipo carnaval. Los estudiantes aprenderán sobre la cultura y la biodiversidad locales.

Give Kids the World

Students will volunteer at “Give Kids The World Village” in Central Florida, a place that provides free vacations to children with critical illnesses and their families. Throughout the week, students will serve in different roles—assisting with meals, activities, and daily needs—bringing joy and encouragement to these families. This service will help students grow in compassion and servant leadership. To finish the trip, they will visit one of Orlando’s theme parks before returning to Ecuador.

Nuestros estudiantes serán voluntarios en “Give Kids The World Village”, en Florida Central, un lugar que ofrece vacaciones gratuitas a niños con enfermedades críticas y a sus familias. Durante la semana, los estudiantes apoyarán en comidas, actividades y necesidades diarias, brindando alegría y ánimo a estas familias. Esta experiencia fortalecerá su compasión y liderazgo servicial. Al final del viaje, visitarán uno de los parques temáticos de Orlando antes de regresar a Ecuador.

Peru Boat Camp

AAI students will join with other students from Pucallpa, Peru during a river cruise down the Ucayali river, a tributary of the Amazon. Students will visit indigenous communities to learn about environmental, health, and economic issues that impact their communities, will serve the community in various ways such as by showing the children the importance of drinking boiled water, and will share the good news of Jesus and the transformational impact of the Bible in programs organized for children

Los estudiantes de AAI se unirán a otros estudiantes de Pucallpa, Perú, durante un crucero por el río Ucayali, un afluente del Amazonas. Visitarán comunidades indígenas para aprender sobre los problemas ambientales, de salud y económicos que afectan a sus comunidades, servirán a la comunidad de diversas maneras, como mostrar a los niños la importancia de beber agua hervida, y compartirán la buena nueva de Jesús y el impacto transformador de la Biblia en programas organizados para niños.

Red de Misericordia

Students will travel to the city of Santiago in the Dominican Republic and will attend a two-day conference at Iglesia Bautista de la Gracia. The rest of the week will be spent serving children in the orphanage Red de Misericordia through an English camp that teaches, not only English skills, but also the good news of Jesus

Los estudiantes viajarán a la ciudad de Santiago, República Dominicana, y asistirán a una conferencia de dos días en la Iglesia Bautista de la Gracia.
El resto de la semana se dedicará a servir a los niños del orfanato Red de Misericordia en un campamento de inglés que enseña no solo inglés, sino también la buena nueva de Jesús.

Adulting 101: Etiquette & Protocols

Knowing how to dress, act, and communicate in an adult world can be challenging. Students who participate in this experience will learn the essential life skills of etiquette and protocol across different social and professional contexts. Through simulations, investigation, and a fancy lunch off-campus, students will grow in confidence, presence, and understanding of social norms that contribute to positive and respectful interactions both in person and online.

Saber vestirse, comportarse y comunicarse en el mundo de los adultos puede ser un desafío. Los estudiantes que participen en esta experiencia aprenderán las habilidades esenciales de etiqueta y protocolo para la vida en diferentes contextos sociales y profesionales. Mediante simulaciones, investigación y un almuerzo informal fuera del campus, los estudiantes desarrollarán confianza, presencia y comprensión de las normas sociales que contribuyen a interacciones positivas y respetuosas tanto en persona como en línea.

Digging Up the Past

This project will explore the science of archaeology and the application of its methods in both research and field work. Archaeological site visits in and around Quito will expose students to our ancient history, and a potential f ield work visit will allow students to put their knowledge into practice.

Este proyecto explorará la ciencia de la arqueología y la aplicación de sus métodos tanto en la investigación como en el trabajo de campo. Las visitas a sitios arqueológicos en Quito y sus alrededores permitirán a los estudiantes conocer nuestra historia antigua, y una posible visita de campo les permitirá poner en práctica sus conocimientos.

Ecuador to the World

Ecuador is a country filled with diverse natural resources that are exported to the world market. Students will explore the sourcing and market for products such as cacao, roses, crude oil, and others. Students will learn about the methods, realities and mythologies around the products and commodities which Ecuador contributes to the world economy.

Ecuador es un país rico en recursos naturales que se exportan al mercado mundial. Los estudiantes explorarán el abastecimiento y el mercado de productos como el cacao, las rosas, el petróleo crudo y otros. Aprenderán sobre los métodos, las realidades y las mitologías en torno a los productos y materias primas que Ecuador aporta a la economía mundial.

Literary London

Students will travel to London, England for a 6-day tour of the city and nearby area. They will explore the literary, historic, and cultural importance of the city through its landmarks, museums, and libraries as well as potential day trips to Oxford and Bath. They will experience the literary legacy of this ancient city by attending a play and visiting key literary landmarks.

Los estudiantes viajarán a Londres, Inglaterra, para un recorrido de seis días por la ciudad y sus alrededores. Explorarán la importancia literaria, histórica y cultural de la ciudad a través de sus monumentos, museos y bibliotecas, así como posibles excursiones de un día a Oxford y Bath. Experimentarán el legado literario de esta antigua ciudad asistiendo a una obra de teatro y visitando importantes lugares de interés literario

The Monastic Experience

Students will learn about the history and practice of monasticism through a simulation in Calacalí and at El Refugio. They will practice silence, solitude, and prayer, as well as learn to cook, clean, and garden. Using the wilderness survival skills they will learn during the week, students will spend one night camping. Lastly, they will have the opportunity to create art for the blessing of the community.

Los estudiantes aprenderán sobre la historia y la práctica del monacato mediante una simulación en Calacalí y El Refugio. Practicarán el silencio, la soledad y la oración, además de aprender a cocinar, limpiar y cuidar el jardín. Utilizando las técnicas de supervivencia que aprenderán durante la semana, pasarán una noche acampando. Finalmente, tendrán la oportunidad de crear arte para la bendición de la comunidad.

Music Production

This workshop will guide students through the full process of producing a song, from initial concept to final mix. The program will be held on campus, with one possible field trip to a professional recording studio in Quito. Students will learn to set up and operate recording equipment, write and arrange original music, record instruments and vocals, and apply mixing techniques to produce a finished track.

Este taller guiará a los estudiantes a través de todo el proceso de producción de una canción, desde la concepción inicial hasta la mezcla final. El programa se impartirá en el campus, con una posible visita a un estudio de grabación profesional en Quito. Los estudiantes aprenderán a configurar y operar equipos de grabación, componer y arreglar música original, grabar instrumentos y voces, y aplicar técnicas de mezcla para producir una canción f inal.

Wilderness Adventure

Students will learn wilderness survival skills and grow in their faith as they participate in a 4-5 day hike. Students will work as a team and will learn how to set up tents, cross rivers, start fires, make food, and survive in the wild. They will disconnect from their technological devices and their normal routine to explore God’s creation and to reflect on His purpose for their life as they backpack in Ecuador’s beautiful mountains

Los estudiantes aprenderán técnicas de supervivencia en la naturaleza y fortalecerán su fe participando en una caminata de 4 a 5 días. Trabajarán en equipo y aprenderán a armar carpas, cruzar ríos, encender fogatas, preparar comida y sobrevivir en la naturaleza. Se desconectarán de sus dispositivos electrónicos y su rutina diaria para explorar la creación de Dios y reflexionar sobre su propósito para la vida mientras recorren las hermosas montañas de Ecuador.
